MATTE Magazine is a print publication founded in 2010 by Matthew Leifheit as a platform for new ideas in photography. MATTE tends to feature one artist per issue, although a small number of issues have been guest-curated around a theme or functioned as catalogues for exhibitions. The publication seeks to provide a context where emerging and more established artists can benefit from sharing pages, and is specifically interested in (but not limited to) queer issues. Developments in on-demand technology allow each issue to be printed on a rolling basis, in an unlimited edition, in full-color with no ads.
